Lutheran Special School & Education Services has been in existence since 1958 serving hundreds of children with special needs, as well as, their families and teachers. When the school began, approximately 6% of all school-age children were identified as having special needs. Recent statistics show that over 13% of all school-aged children in Wisconsin have special educational needs. These statistics are consistent for children in Lutheran schools as well.
The need and desire for our services is tremendous. We are currently able to serve over 650 children, their families and teachers, directly and indirectly, through the programs and services we provide. However, there are many more families who are still in need of our services.
Lutheran Special School & Education Services and our Board of Directors are committed to serving these children, along with their families and educators. In order to ensure our programs and services continue to flourish, the Board of Directors established an endowment fund in 2002.
Lutheran Special School and Education Services developed this endowment fund program in order to encourage God's people to consider opportunities to support the ministry of LSSES by extending their stewardship through personalized estate and financial gift plans. The program's purpose is to encourage, receive and manage special gifts and bequests and use these gifts for the mission and ministry of Lutheran Special School and Education Services.
Its purpose is to:
- Further the mission of the Lutheran Special School & Education Services.
- Remind God's people that financial and estate gift planning is an important part of Christian stewardship. This is a God-given opportunity to put love into action for family and the Lord.
- Provide an orderly, established, convenient and understandable means to receive and administer gifts and bequests for the advancement of the Kingdom.
- Protect the organization's endowed monies to meet future needs of the organization.
- Provide a relatively constant source of annual income.
- Demonstrate the organization's security, stability, and long-range financial planning.
- Enable an organization to obtain funds for current operations more easily.
- Increase investment yield.
- Fulfill the organization's mission in perpetuity.
