The time is NOW!

tag line logo.jpgThe urgency we face is very real. As of the fall of 2017 we will need to be out of our current space at Milwaukee Lutheran High School because of their projected increased enrollment. We also continue to turn away dozens of children each year who want to be part of our program because we simply don’t have the space for them in our current arrangement. The waiting list continues to grow as the number of children with special learning needs continues to increase.

About Our Campaign

We launched our capital campaign in 2015 with the intent to build a state-of-the-art special needs facility adjacent to Milwaukee Lutheran High School, where we currently rent space for two classrooms that can only accommodate a total of 24 special needs children from 3rd to 8th grade.  The $5.6 million proposed building plan would accommodate about 150 students and offer a full range of multisensory learning spaces, such as a movement room, makers lab, observation rooms, and learning kitchen.

However, as of December 2016 we were still short of the funds needed to break ground for a new building adjacent to MLHS as we had hoped. At that time a new opportunity presented itself -- a building owned by Hales Corners Lutheran Church was going up for sale that would easily accommodate our needs and be available this summer.

After much prayer and careful consideration, LSSES has signed an agreement to purchase the Hales Corners Lutheran School building on 111th Street just off of Grange Avenue!  We will now have a dedicated “home” for the next school year, and also have space to grow our program in the coming years to serve more children and families who desire a Christ-centered special education program.  Our plan is to expand our services for the 2017/18 school year by adding one additional self-contained classroom at the Hales Corners location, and continue to increase enrollment again for the 2018/19 school year when we will have full occupancy of the building. We intend to provide transportation for our current students over to the new facility next fall, as our Milwaukee families want their children to be part of our program regardless of a necessary change in location.
